Researchers Discover Fossils of Largest Dino Believed to Ever Walk the Earth…

Researchers believe they’ve found fossils of a dinosaur so large that it would have made Tyrannosaurus rex look like a pipsqueak.

Researchers announced this week they found fossils of a sauropod dinosaur that they estimate was the largest creature to have ever walked the earth.

Dr. Ruben Cueno, director of Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio in Trelew, Argentina, said the dinosaur would have weighed at least 77 tons and grown to triple the size of a T. Rex. The bones were initially discovered by a farmer who spotted something unusual coming out of the ground.

“It looked like a bone, but it was absolutely different from the bones [he recognized like] horse, llamas and sheep,” Cuneo told ABC News.

When the farmer alerted local scientists, they started digging and discovered a treasure trove of fossils. Cuneo said there are bones for seven dinosaurs, each the height of a seven-story building and stretching 120 feet from nose to tail.

“[It’s] a major, major beast that has been discovered for the first time in Patagonia,” said Cuneo. “It was an amazing discovery.”

Although scientists have been digging for years, Cuneo told ABC News he expects the dig to take at least two more years before all the bones are removed. Some bones will remain on site for the winter, covered by special plaster. Other early findings have already been brought back to the museum, where a new wing will be created solely to display the new dinosaur species.

The dinosaur does not yet have a name, but Cuneo said since names often refer to a geographic area or a researcher, it’s possible that the dinosaur will reflect where it was found.

“Super Patagoniasauraus,” Cueno said was one option. “[This] is going to be a major attraction in coming years.

Give yourself a flushie for Justice….

The New Waterboarding: In April (2009), the district attorney in Vilas County, Wis., announced that he was seeking volunteers for a forensic test to help his case against Douglas Plude, 42, who (was) scheduled to stand trial soon for the second time in the death of his wife. The volunteers must be female, about 5 feet 8 inches and 140 pounds, and will have to stick their heads into a toilet bowl and flush. Plude is charged with drowning his wife in a commode, but his version (which the prosecutor will try to show is improbable) is that his wife committed suicide by flushing herself.

England….Aaron Hughes finds bomb at Gilfach with metal detector gift

=================================================================================

A man using a metal detector he was given for Christmas has unearthed a World War II bomb on a nature reserve.

It was only the second time builder Aaron Hughes, 26, had used the gift from his father, Brian, who was with him at Gilfach, near Rhayader, along with his girlfriend Charlotte Croudace.

Police cordoned off the area and called in a bomb disposal team from Hereford.

Mr Hughes joked that the bomb was “nice to find,” but he would have rather have discovered a pot of gold.

It is understood the device was a mortar bomb, but why it was buried on a nature reserve is a mystery.

The trio were walking along a path on the reserve when they made the discovery.

“It was the first time I’d properly used the metal detector,” Mr Hughes said.

“I had been out on New Year’s Day and I’d found a few coins near a playground – a few coppers and a couple of pound coins.

Aaron Hughes received the metal detector from his father Brian
“The following day on the Gilfach reserve we’d only been there 10 minutes when the detector started beeping.

“I thought I’d discovered a can or a metal lid. I never imagined I would find a bomb.

“I scratched down into the ground and saw the tip of the what we now know is a bomb.

“I wasn’t sure what it was to start with, so I started digging down with a spade and flicked it out of the ground and onto the grass. It was about 2-3in (5-7cm) deep.

“We were shocked because it was pretty obviously a bomb.

“We weren’t sure whether or not to phone the police because 999 is only for emergencies – but this was sort of an emergency.

“It was a nice thing to find, but I obviously would have rather have found a big pot of gold.”

Man mistakes son for monkey, shoots him dead……

A farmer in southern Nepal mistook his son for a monkey trying to steal his crops and shot the 12-year-old dead, police said on Sunday.

Chitra Bahadur Pulami had been climbing a tree to chase away macaques that had become a nuisance to the family but his father Gupta Bahadur, 55, spotted the boy and opened fire, wrongly believing him to be one of the animals.

“The son was hiding in a tree at their farm to chase away monkeys that used to come searching for food in the maize field,” said Arun Poudel, deputy superintendent of police in the remote Arghakhanchi district

“The son died on the spot after Gupta Bahadur mistakenly thought there was a monkey in the tree and opened fire. Our preliminary investigation shows that the father was unaware that his son had gone to the maize field to chase the monkeys.

“Both Gupta Bahadur and the gun that he used in shooting his son are now under the custody of the police.”

The three species of monkey native to Nepal, the rhesus and Assamese macaque and the common langur, are considered sacred and farmers normally try to scare them away from their crops without injuring the animals.

“I realised my mistake only when my son fell down and got stuck in one of the tree’s branches,” the farmer was quoted as telling police by the Nepali nagariknews.com website after the incident, on Friday.
