The Obama Era is Over by DANIEL GREENFIELD, ISRAEL NEWS November 10, 2016…..

Obama and his supporters loved talking about history. His victory was historic. They were on the right side of history. History was an inevitable arc that bent their way.

The tidal force of demographics had made the old America irrelevant. Any progressive policy agenda was now possible because we were no longer America.  We Were Obamerica. A hip, happening place full of smiling gay couples, Muslim women in hijabs and transgender actors. We were all going to live in a New York City coffee house, work at Green Jobs and live in the post-national future.

The past was gone. We were falling into the gorgeous wonderful future of dot com instant deliveries and outsourced everything. We would become more tolerant and guilty. The future was Amazon and Disney. It was hot and cold running social justice. The Bill of Rights was done. Ending the First and Second Amendments was just a clever campaign away. Narratives on news sites drove everything.

Presidents were elected by Saturday Night Live skits.

John Oliver, John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee were our journalists. Safe spaces were everywhere and you better watch your micro-aggressions, buddy. No more coal would be mined. No more anything would be made.

The end of men was here. The end of the dead white men of the literary canon. The end of white people. The end of binary gender and marriage. The end of reason. The end of art. The end of 2 + 2 equaling 4. This was Common Core time. It was time to pardon an endless line of drug dealers. To kill cops and praise criminals. To be forced to buy worthless health insurance for wealth redistribution to those who voted their way to wealth.

This was Obama’s America. And there was no going back. We were rushing through endless goal posts of social transformation. The military fell. Then the police. Now it looks as quaint as anything from the 50s, the 70s or the 80s. A brief moment of foolishness that already appears odd and awkward. And then one day nostalgic. It wasn’t the future. It’s already the past. It’s history.

Scalia died. Hillary Clinton was bound to win. And she would define the Supreme Court. Down-ticket races would give her a friendly Senate. And then perhaps even the House.

But there is no right side of history. There is only the side we choose. The Obama era was permanent. It was history.

Now it is history.

It‘s shocking ascendancy has been paired with an equally shocking descent. The Obama era is done. It’s gone.   It’s over. It was wiped from the pages of history in one night that left Congress and the White House in Republican hands.

It would have been bad enough if Jeb Bush had succeeded Obama. That would have been inconvenient, but not a repudiation. Instead Obama’s legacy was dashed to pieces. His frantic efforts to campaign for Hillary did no good.  The public did not vocally reject him. What they did was even worse. They brushed past him. They sidelined him. They gave him passable approval ratings while dismissing his biggest accomplishments. They forgot him. They made it clear that he did not matter.

And that is in its own way far more brutal and wounding. They didn’t just destroy the Obama era.  Instead they dismissed it as if it never existed.

Obama didn’t make history after all. He wasn’t a teleprompter demi-god standing athwart of history. He was Carter and Ford. He was there to be forgotten. He didn’t change the world. He wasn’t the messiah. He was merely mortal. Just another politician who will sag and age. Who will, in the end, be photographed like Bill Clinton, lonely and lost  in a world that has passed him by.

The Obama era ends not with a bang, but with a whimper. With a national consensus that maybe he didn’t really matter so much after all. And those to whom he mattered the most were his enemies determined to undo everything he did.

Obama once thought that he belonged to the ages. Now he belongs in the rubbish bin.

Italy’s bloody secret…..

They were always portrayed as victims of fascism, but Mussolini’s soldiers committed atrocities which for 60 years have gone unpunished. Now the conspiracy of silence is at last starting to unravel.

The footnotes of Italian history record Giovanni Ravalli waging war on criminals. He was a police prefect who kept the streets safe and pursued gangs such as the one which stole Caravaggio’s The Nativity from a Palermo church in 1969. An adviser to the prime minister, a man of the establishment, he retired on a generous pension to his home at 179 Via Cristoforo Colombo, south Rome, to tend his plants and admire the view. He died on April 30 1998, aged 89.

The footnotes do not record a Greek policeman called Isaac Sinanoglu who was tortured to death over several days in 1941. His teeth were extracted with pliers and he was dragged by the tail of a galloping horse. Nor do they mention the rapes, or the order to pour boiling oil over 70 prisoners.

After the war Ravalli, a lieutenant in the Italian army’s Pinerolo division, was caught by the Greeks and sentenced to death for these crimes. The Italian government saved him by threatening to withhold reparations unless he was released. Ravalli returned home to a meteoric career that was questioned only once: in 1992 an American historian, Michael Palumbo, exposed his atrocities in a book but Ravalli, backed by powerful friends, threatened to sue and it was never published.

His secrets remained safe, just as Italy’s secrets remained safe. An audacious deception has allowed the country to evade blame for massive atrocities committed before and during the second world war and to protect the individuals responsible, some almost certainly still alive. Of more than 1,200 Italians sought for war crimes in Africa and the Balkans, not one has faced justice. Webs of denial spun by the state, academe and the media have re-invented Italy as a victim, gulling the rest of the world into acclaiming the Good Italian long before Captain Corelli strummed a mandolin.

In reality Benito Mussolini’s invading soldiers murdered many thousands of civilians, bombed the Red Cross, dropped poison gas, starved infants in concentration camps and tried to annihilate cultures deemed inferior. “There has been little or no coming to terms with fascist crimes comparable to the French concern with Vichy or even the Japanese recognition of its wartime and prewar responsibilities,” says James Walston, a historian at the American University of Rome.

The cover-up lasts to this day but its genesis is now unravelling. Filippo Focardi, a historian at Rome’s German Historical Institute, has found foreign ministry documents and diplomatic cables showing how the lie was constructed. In 1946 the new republic, legitimised by anti-fascists who had fought with the allies against Mussolini, pledged to extradite suspected war criminals: there was a commission of inquiry, denunciations, lists of names, arrest warrants. It was a charade. Extraditions would anger voters who still revered the military and erode efforts to portray Italy as a victim of fascism. Focardi’s research shows that civil servants were told in blunt language to fake the quest for justice. A typical instruction from the prime minister, Alcide De Gasperi, on January 19 1948 reads: “Try to gain time, avoid answering requests.”

Yugoslavia, Greece, Albania, Ethiopia and Libya protested to no avail. “It was an elaborate going through the motions. They had no intention of handing over anybody,” says Focardi. Germans suspected of murdering Italians – including those on Cephalonia, Corelli’s island – were not pursued lest a “boomerang effect” threaten Italians wanted abroad: their files turned up decades later in a justice ministry cupboard in Rome.

Britain and the US, fearful of bolstering communists in Italy and Yugoslavia, collaborated in the deception. “Justice requires the handing over of these people but expediency, I fear, militates against it,” wrote a Foreign Office mandarin. The conspiracy succeeded in frustrating the United Nations war crimes investigation. There was no Nuremberg for Italian criminals.

Given the evidence against them, it must rank as one of the great escapes. General Pietro Badoglio’s planes dropped 280kg bombs of mustard gas over Ethiopian villages and strafed Red Cross camps. He died of old age in his bed, was buried with full military honours and had his home town named after him. General Rudolfo Graziani, aka the butcher of Libya, massacred entire communities; his crimes included an infamous assault on the sick and elderly of Addis Ababa. His men posed for photographs holding severed heads. General Mario Roatta, known to his men as the black beast, killed tens of thousands of Yugoslav civilians in reprisals and herded thousands more to their deaths in concentration camps lacking water, food and medicine. One of his soldiers wrote home on July 1 1942: “We have destroyed everything from top to bottom without sparing the innocent. We kill entire families every night, beating them to death or shooting them.”

Italy’s atrocities did not match Germany’s or Japan’s in scale and savagery, and it is no myth that Italian soldiers saved Jews and occasionally fraternised with civilians. Glows of humanity amid the darkness; yet over time they have suffused the historic memory with blinding light.

The distortion can partly be blamed on British prejudices about Italian soldiers being soft and essentially harmless, says Nic Fields, a military historian at the University of Edinburgh: “Many British historians liked to focus on the luxury items found in Italian barracks. It reinforced the image of opera buffoons. Your average Tommy tended to caricature the Italians as poor sods caught up in the war.”

The crimes have been chronicled in specialist journals but never became part of general knowledge. Ask an Italian about his country’s role in the war and he will talk about partisans fighting the Ger mans or helping Jews. Ask about atrocities and he will talk about Tito’s troops hurling Italians into ravines. Unlike France, which has deconstructed resistance mythology to explore Vichy, Italy’s awareness has evolved little since two film-makers were jailed in the 1950s for straying off-message in depicting the occupation of Greece.

When Japanese or Austrians try to gloss over their shame there is an outcry, but the Italians get away with it. The 1991 film Mediterraneo, about occupiers playing football, sipping ouzo and flirting with the locals on a Greek island, was critically acclaimed. Captain Corelli’s sanctification of Italian martyrdom was not challenged. Ken Kirby’s 1989 BBC Timewatch documentary, Fascist Legacy, detailing Italian crimes in Africa and the Balkans and the allies’ involvement in the cover-up, provoked furious complaints from Italy’s ambassador in London. The Italian state broadcaster, Rai, agreed to buy the two one-hour programmes, but executives got cold feet and for 11 years it has sat in a vault in Rome, too controversial to broadcast. “It’s the only time I can remember a client shelving a programme after buying it,” says a BBC executive.

Kirby did manage to show it at a film festival in Florence. The reaction was toxic. “They put security on me. After the first reel the audience turned around and looked at me, thinking ‘what a bastard’.”

A brief storm of publicity engulfed Michael Palumbo, the documentary’s historical consultant. “I was practically assaulted by several Italian journalists. There was a sackful of death threats, some from former soldiers.”

The documentary gave a voice to Italian historians such as Giorgio Rochat, who have provoked disapproval from colleagues by attacking the myth. “There remains in Italian culture and public opinion the idea that basically we were colonialists with a human face.”

Another historian, Angelo Del Boca, says those guilty of genocide were honoured. “A process of rehabilitation is being organised for some of them by sympathetic or supportive biographers.” He says that for decades his research was obstructed – an accusation echoed by Focardi. Vital documents are “mislaid” or perpetually out on loan. Just one example: 11 years ago a German researcher found documents and photographs of Italian atrocities in Yugoslavia in the central state archive, a fascist-built marble hulk south of Rome. No one has been able to gain access to them since.

Such scholars are few, but thanks to their work a tentative reappraisal may be under way. While paying homage last march to the Italian troops massacred by Germans on Cephalonia, President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, noting that Italy invaded Greece, asked forgiveness. Newspapers such as La Stampa and Manifesto have reported new research, and a weekly magazine, Panorama, confronted Ravalli before he died. But Italy remains entranced by its victimhood. Television commentary for a military parade in Rome earlier this month hummed the glory and sacrifice of the armed forces. Newspapers splashed on the possibility that a 92-year-old former Nazi SS officer living in Hamburg, Friedrich Engel, may be prosecuted for crimes in Genoa. Other former Nazis accused of murdering Italians are being pursued now that the fear of a “boomerang” effect against Italian criminals has evaporated.

Last month workers digging in northern Ethiopia stumbled on yet another Italian arms depot suspected of containing mustard gas. Addis Ababa asked Rome to respect an international weapons treaty by revealing the location of stockpiles and helping to clear them. Like all other requests over past decades, it was rebuffed. “All efforts on Ethiopia’s side to convince Italy to live up to its responsibilities have failed,” lamented the government.

New Low: Obama’s Approval Rating on Economy the “Worst of His Presidency,” Poll Finds…

In every single category — health care policy, the economy, immigration policy, the threat of terrorism, foreign policy, and overall job approval — his ratings have plummeted this year. Indeed, I half-expected his health care policy approval ratings to drop precipitously since last month, too — you know, given everything that’s happened with the Obamacare website rollout. Nope. He’s only down four percentage points since then, which isn’t terribly impressive but hardly as low as it probably could or should be.* Most significantly, his approval ratings vis-à-vis the economy have nose-dived — 12 percentage points (!) — in the past month, while at the same time his disapproval ratings have soared.

Tying the Knot Under ObamaCare By Eileen F. Toplansky

The heinous intrusions into our lives as a result of ObamaCare swell each day. Now, in true Marxist form, the ludicrously named “Affordable Care Act” mounts an all-out attack on marriage. In 2010, in a Web Memo, the Heritage Foundation pointed out that

Under the bill, couples would face massive financial penalties if they marry or remain married. Conversely, couples who cohabit without marriage are given highly preferential financial treatment. If the Senate bill becomes law, saying ‘I do’ would cost some couples over $10,000 per year.

In fact, the “… anti-marriage penalties and heavy ‘cohabitation bonuses [were] built into the Senate ObamaCare bill [.]'” Furthermore, “low income couples are not immune from the bill’s aggressive wedding taxes. A 60-year old husband and wife, each with an income of $15,000 would pay over $4,000 per year if they remain married. Put in other terms, the government would offer an annual bonus of $4,212 if the couple divorces and then cohabits.”

Well, ObamaCare is now law and the effects are being felt nationwide. As a continuing job killer, ObamaCare will now adversely impact clergy, wedding halls, caterers, musicians, singers, floral arrangers, and other party planners.

Consequently, “an all-out war on ‘old and outdated’ institutions like marriage and family” is being conducted “so dominance of the state can be achieved.” In communist Russia this was euphemistically known as “unions of affection and comradeship.”

In Russia in 1920, abortion on demand arrived. Hence, how convenient that via ObamaCare, every American must now pay for someone else’s abortion — a direct assault on religious freedom. Thus, the state’s monstrous power keeps enlarging under the dictator occupying the White House.

Monica Showalter in her article entitled “Five Ways Lenin’s Propaganda Destroyed Marriage and the Family in Russia” describes how Lenin destroyed the traditional family structure as his tyranny affected women through high-sounding propaganda. Eventually, however, the women who were lured into idealizing Lenin, found that their rights and their wages disappeared, thereby making them “wards of the state.”

Thus, the idea behind breaking down the family was that women without husbands could be socialized more easily. In practical terms this meant [that] men were free to leave their wives and abandon their responsibilities.

How ironic that Obama’s policies “most directly hurt women,” Thus, ObamaCare essentially “eliminates consumer driven health insurance with health savings accounts which was the fastest growing choice… for women.”

In addition, women see doctors more often than men, but now they will be “subjected to the consequences of ObamaCare edicts [.]” Mammogram screenings were to be reduced until a hue and cry arose wherein this was rescinded showing that ultimately “the federal government has the power to giveth and taketh away.” And as has been publicized, women who were covered as dependents through their husband’s employer-sponsored health insurance are losing their coverage when their husband’s employer drops coverage.

Moreover, more than half of all Medicare beneficiaries are women. But ObamaCare cuts Medicare payments. Thus, “by 2019 [the cuts] will be so draconian that payments will be even lower than Medicaid, a system in which doctors already lose money and… refuse to accept patients.”

Communism has always seen the home as “potentially subversive.” Communists long to see natural ties between mother and child “severed so that the state becomes the dominant force.” This president’s communist ties dominated his life; he is merely following in their footsteps.

Moreover, Obama, who without consent of Congress and in his now systematic assault on the Constitution eliminated the work requirement of the welfare program — the one element of the welfare program that moved people off dependency. By reversing this policy, the dependency-inducing welfare industry which undermines the importance of fathers, has been given a boost.

Obama is setting America on the same path as Lenin did for Russia almost 100 years ago. Recall that we now have 48 million Americans on welfare as a result of Obama’s economic policies. Couple this with the “work disincentives” embedded in ObamaCare where “many will conclude that earning extra money isn’t worth it, or will strive mightily to find ways to earn income under the table” and American opportunity is further eroded.

In Showalter’s article, the word “community organizer” pops up and one learns that “Lenin dispatched Kollontai to set up the Zhenotdel, a communist organizing group financed by the Communist Party for agitation and propaganda of the new model.” Recall the Occupy Wall Street movement, the newly renamed Acorn Party, and even the current despicable bid by Obama to get donations to help fund ObamaCare all packaged as a charitable approach to help him and his cronies.

Obama and the Democratic Party continue to cast aspersions on Tea Party conservatives because they know that these conservatives see right through their linguistic double talk. Those who try to shed light on Obama’s covert and overt attacks on this country will continue to be isolated and excoriated because they elucidate the historical truths of the past.

So when socialism fails, as it always does, the “socialists blame funding.” Consequently, once Lenin had ensnared women into the state controlled system as a result of his lies, the women sadly did not blame the ideas of the state controlled government; instead “they went to the state for not distributing enough money.” Government gives, government takes away, and then government gives again. In Obamaland, some 47 million food stamp recipients are having their benefits cut in a month and don’t even realize it. This is “the essence of ObamaCare. Government has the ultimate authority over health care decisions because government decides what must be included in health insurance and who must pay for it.” Echoes of the past are coming to haunt America.

Lest one argue that Lenin’s ideas are no longer potent, recall that the “legacy of the social wreckage continues to this day. Russia still ranks No. 1 in the world in both divorces and abortions.”

This ObamaCare wedding tax, is of course, a boon to divorce attorneys as the government demolishes the sanctity of marriage. Collette Caprara at The Foundry asserts that “the impact of this discrimination will affect couples at every income level and creates a scenario in which couples’ wisest financial decision would be to divorce or to forgo tying the knot.” How perverse is this?

If ObamaCare is not completely dismantled, this profound bias against marriage asserts that “married couples are second class citizens.” Consequently the law establishes cohabiters as “a privileged special interest, quietly channeling tens of thousands of dollars to them in preferential government bonuses.” In addition, this wedding tax is a spiritual violation that Obama and the Democrats are only too glad to inflict upon Americans. Same sex married couples should take heed of this as well.

Eric Hoffer in his 1951 book entitled The True Believer writes that “one of the most potent attractions of a mass movement is its offering of a substitute for individual hope” (15). Obama and the Democrats keep undermining Americans ability to succeed, inculcating the idea that there is no future in America unless it is totally guided by the government. Obama continues to destroy individual hope when jobs are scarce, college tuition is exorbitant, unemployment benefits are worth more than solid, honest work — each of these disaffects far too many Americans who see no future before them.

Obama, an ideologue who is “so fanatically committed to this cause that no amount of reality can make him abandon it” keeps offering his empty “hope and change” speech. But, as the evidence mounts and the facts become known, it is up to us to come out of our stupor and halt this battering ram that is deliberately grinding down the people. It is equally important to remember Pascal’s advice that “…the embarrassment wherein [a person] finds himself produces in him the most unjust and criminal passions imaginable, for he conceives a mortal hatred against that truth which blames him and convinces him of his faults.” As Obama is thwarted, be prepared for the true vision of this demagogue.

There are so many reasons to abort ObamaCare completely — the assault on marriage is now one more.

Up to 75% Could Be Hit by Obamacare Tax……

The so-called “Cadillac Tax” facing employers who offer premium healthcare plans to their workers already is affecting employees, even though it doesn’t kick in until 2018.

Employers say they have to get started bringing down costs now, The New York Times reports, so employees who are used to $20 co-pays at the doctor’s office and $500 deductibles are learning a new reality. Many now are looking at deductibles as high as $6,000 for families.

That’s exactly how Obamacare planners designed it, the Times story says. The intent of what is officially known as the Affordable Care Act all along was to get companies to drop plans that protect workers from the high cost of healthcare, which can lead to unnecessary tests and procedures.

“The consumer should continue to expect that their plan is going to be more expensive, and they will have less benefits,” Cynthia Weidner of the benefits consultant HighRoads told the Times.

Still, the tax is one of the most controversial parts of the healthcare law. It imposes a 40 percent tax on the portion of a health plan’s cost that exceeds $10,200 for an individual and $27,500 for a family. That cost includes what both the employer and employee pay.

Some employees are feeling the pinch already. The Times talked to a nursing assistant who had to drop out of school and get extra jobs to pay for medicine for her husband, who has cystic fibrosis.

“My husband didn’t choose to be born this way,” said Abbey Bruce.

“The reality is it is going to hit more and more people over time, at least as currently written in law, ” said Bradley Herring, a health economist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Herring estimated that as many as 75 percent of plans could be affected by the tax over the next decade — unless employers manage to significantly rein in their costs.

Another Government Business Failure…..FHA Might Need $943 Million Taxpayer Bailout

The cash-strapped Federal Housing Administration will likely require a $943 million taxpayer bailout to cover expected losses from loans it insured as the U.S. housing bubble was deflating, the Obama administration said on Wednesday.

It would be the first bailout of the government’s mortgage insurer in its nearly 80-year history.

The FHA, which has struggled to manage a glut of delinquent mortgages, will likely need the funds given a shortfall in its reserves, the administration said in President Barack Obama’s fiscal 2014 budget proposal.

The COW AND THE ICE CREAM…ONE OF THE BEST THEORIES OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION

“We are worried about ‘the cow’ when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream. ‘The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching 3rd grade. The last Presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia’s mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place.
He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia’s turn to speak.

Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.” She sat down.

The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure. But no one pursued that question. They took her at her word.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it…She didn’t know.

The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream…

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 51.4 % of the people reacted like nine year old’s.

They want ice cream.

The other 48.6% percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!
