Sail to the new world?
In a wooden boat?
Not knowing what waited there?
Build a settlement?
Risk disease and drought, starvation and more?
Would you allow your son to push westward in a little wagon with supplies and courage and not much else?
Would your son ford rivers and shoot muskets?
Would your son rope cattle and wrestle with bulls?
Mr. Obama, this is how we know you aren’t one of us.
We have a proud Country with a bold heritage and we do hard things and sometimes we die trying.
We honor and admire souls that are brave and daring, in case you didn’t know.
Remember Sally Ride? Or were you in Pakistan or Indonesia or somewhere when she died?
What if her mother had said “My daughter will never ride to the moon!”
Mr. Obama, we had grandparents that came here in the belly of old wooden ships and they puked for weeks and walked off on Ellis Island to years of hard labor, but you know what?
They were free and they were brave: two things you don’t appreciate or treasure.
My great grandfather felled trees and created a farm and could have died trying.
My dad walked girders in the roof of the factory where he worked — right over boiling steel forges– to paint the ceilings and other machinery and my brothers were scared of practically nothing and invented things that are useful in their trade as lumberjacks–another career you probably would never recommend to that imaginary son of yours.
You probably wouldn’t recommend a career of driving race cars or speed boats and anything else we Americans can make go fast like fighter jets and Navy ships and all the ways Americans can and are bad ass.
TOO BAD.
You can’t erase the boldness of Americans and it’s a good thing. We like to push the boundaries and with God’s help we will.
You and your cowardly way of thinking are a stain on our nation we want to see leave.
Bring back the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.
God Bless America.
